About the Role
Reporting to the Recovery Practice Lead, the Safeguarding Officer will lead and coordinate initiatives that strengthen Richmind WA's safeguarding culture, practice and systems. You will work across service delivery and support services to embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and other relevant safeguarding frameworks, ensuring safeguarding is a part of how we work every day.
This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with leaders, frontline teams and external stakeholders to influence lasting change across the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct a comprehensive review of Richmind WA's safeguarding culture, practice and policies..
- Develop and implement an organisation-wide Safeguarding Action Plan.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safeguarding practices and systems..
- Develop and facilitate safeguarding training, education and awareness activities.
- Support leaders and teams to understand and meet safeguarding responsibilities.
- Monitor and report on safeguarding priorities, risks and organisational progress.
- Embed safeguarding considerations into service reviews, supervision frameworks and organisational processes.
- Collaborate across teams including People and Capability, Quality, Governance, Marketing, Assets and Service Delivery.
- Support the implementation of safeguarding recommendations arising from the Enliven Project.
About You
You are a collaborative and influential professional who can engage stakeholders, build capability and drive organisational improvement.
To be successful, you will have:
- A degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Social Science, Policy or a related discipline, and/or relevant demonstrated experience.
- Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, including the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
- Understanding of relevant Royal Commission findings and recommendations.
- Experience in project coordination, organisational improvement, policy implementation or change management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and report-writing abilities.
- The ability to influence change and support continuous improvement.
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, values-driven and solution-focused approach.
