Job Description

About the Placement

Are you a student looking for hands-on experience in mental health? Our Student Placement Program offers a unique opportunity to gain practical skills, work alongside experienced professionals, and make a real impact in the community.      

During your placement, you’ll be part of a team providing recovery-focused mental health support to individuals. Your experience may include:
 

  • Assist with client intake, assessments and case management
  • Conducting assessments and supporting recovery planning
  • Facilitating recovery programs, group activities and community engagement
  • Providing practical and emotional support to individuals
  • Learning about trauma-informed and person-centered care
  • Observing and assisting experienced mental health professionals

About You      

To be considered for a student placement, you will need to have;

Qualifications and Certificates

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant qualification (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health)
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than six months)
  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • A current working with Children Check
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check 
  • A valid Driver’s licence 

Skills and Experience

  • Passionate about mental health and supporting others
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable


Attitude

  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
  • The ability to live RW values in all workplace tasks and interactions.
  • Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding RW values and principles

Student Placements are only offered between Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
