Job Description

About the Role      

As a Recovery Support Worker in our NDIS Service, you will work as part of a team to deliver high quality and efficient services by providing person centred support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, identify and draw upon their existing support networks on their road to recovery, whether that be from coexisting trauma, disability, or complex unmet needs.  

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:  

  • Support plan activities are delivered to facilitate choice and control by the individual, and to achieve their NDIS goals. 
  • Family members, carers, friends, other natural supports, and other agencies are included where possible and with the consent of the participant. 
  • Critical incidents and other risk incidents are dealt with according to the Organisation’s Policies and Procedures and funding body requirements. 
  • The recovery support model is used to assist individual to meet their goals. 
  • Supports are provided within the NDIS guidelines. 

The successful candidate will be required to meet with clients across Perth. 

Desired Skills and Experience

About You     

To be considered for this role, you will need to have;

Qualifications and Certificates

  • A Certificate IV in Mental Health or a qualification in a human service-related field
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than six months)
  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • A current working with Children Check
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check 
  • A valid Driver’s licence and willing to travel across the Perth Metro Area

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Recovery Support Worker in an outreach setting is desirable 
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health work and a sound understanding of recovery within a human services context
  • Demonstrated good communication skills, especially high quality, and supportive interpersonal communication skills
  • Strongly demonstrated ability to manage one’s own workload and the ability to work autonomously
  • Strongly demonstrated ability to operate within organisational guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing psychosocial disability
  • Demonstrated computer skills, with experience in MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of Individualised funding is desirable

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable

Attitude

  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
  • The ability to live RW values in all workplace tasks and interactions.
  • Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding RW values and principles
