Job Description

It takes courage.

And we’re looking for someone who knows how to walk alongside it.

At Richmind WA, every role contributes to shaping the future of mental wellbeing in Western Australia. We listen deeply, see people as individuals, and support them to discover the courage they already have to shape their own lives.

We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Mental Health Recovery Practitioner to play a key role in our residential services, supporting people to build practical living skills, strengthen independence, and move confidently along their recovery journey.

Why this role matters

As a Senior Mental Health Recovery Practitioner, you’ll be a steady, skilled presence for both residents and staff. You’ll combine hands-on recovery work with leadership, supervision and coordination, helping create an environment where recovery is possible, supported and celebrated.

This is a role for someone who believes recovery is real, values person-centred practice, and enjoys supporting others to do their best work.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Support the MHRPs with development of recovery plans with consumers
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with residents, families and carers
  • Provide 1:1 support, counselling and group-based recovery programs
  • Support residents to build practical living skills and maintain community tenure
  • Respond to and manage critical incidents in line with policies and procedures
  • Provide delegated supervision and support to Recovery Support Workers
  • Contribute to rostering, documentation, reporting and service development
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to promote wellbeing and recovery
  • Maintain a safe, clean and supportive residential environment
  • Support potential applicants and residents with intake, assessment, and exit processes
  • Network and build relationships with external stakeholders, including conducting agency visits and presentations
  • Be the day-to-day point of contact and provide guidance to the team
  • Conduct and manage on-site audits
  • Oversee and manage site medication processes
  • Work alongside and support fellow Senior MHRPs and the leadership team

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring

You’ll be someone who is confident, compassionate and grounded, with:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant human services discipline
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar mental health role
  • Strong experience in case management and recovery-oriented practice
  • Counselling and group facilitation skills
  • Experience working in residential mental health settings (desirable)
  • The ability to supervise, guide and support staff
  • Excellent communication, organisation and conflict management skills
  • A genuine alignment with Richmind WA values
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery (personal or as a family member) is highly valued

This role is full-time working Monday to Friday 10am – 6pm based at our Ngulla Mia service.
